How to keep your summer clothes clean and attractive
Swimwear
Rinse with clear water immediately after swimming. At home, soak in warm water with mild detergent for 15 minutes. The bikini in the bra net can also be machine washed (gentle cycle, 30 degrees).
Sunglasses
Damp glasses cleaning cloths quickly attack the coating of the lenses. For thorough cleaning, rub with washing-up liquid, run hot water over them and dry carefully with a lint-free cloth.
Hammock
Cotton fabrics can be machine washed at 30 degrees. Put them in a pillowcase so that the ropes do not get tangled. Spread out and hang to dry.
Straw hat
Moisten a cloth with lukewarm water and rub with curd soap. Carefully wipe the hat with the cloth and clean with clean water. Caution: The hat can withstand a little moisture, but not wetness.
Parasol
Remove the cover from the frame: twist off the knob at the top, lift the fabric and pull it off the rungs. Then scrub clean with water, a brush and curd soap. Pull the fabric back on and leave the sunshade open to dry.
Upholstery cover
If it can't go in the machine, the best way to clean it is in the bath: rub the covers with liquid detergent, leave to work for a short time and rinse well.
How to keep our favorite shoes nice & fresh
Flip-flops
Frequent use can easily lead to bacterial contamination, which is transferred to the soft plastic material via the feet. Therefore, clean the shoes regularly with vinegar. Abrasion with soapy water helps to remove dirt. Allow to dry well, otherwise mold can easily form.
Espadrilles
Remove dust or dirt with a brush. Cleaning foam from the drugstore helps with stains. Got wet? Quickly stuff them with a small towel and hang them up by the heel with a clothespin: Not in the sun, it bleaches the fabric.
Sneakers
Waterproofing spray with UV protection prevents fading and protects against dirt and moisture. White upper material stays shiny if you clean it with a mixture of washing-up liquid and baking powder. Cat litter helps against stink: put it in an old nylon stocking overnight.
