Good remedies for spiders: What really helps?

Spiders not only cause disgust in many people, but also downright panic in some. Good spider repellents are therefore in demand. Are household remedies enough to catch spiders, or do you have to use chemicals? We have put together a few tips against the annoying eight-legged creatures.

Attach fly screens to the window
And: seal gaps in the skirting boards. This will prevent the eight-legged friends from entering the house in the first place.

Annoy with lavender scents
The pesky eight-legged friends don't like the intense scent of lavender at all. Aromatic candles and oils on the windowsills can be used to drive spiders away.

Don't forget the corners
The more thoroughly you clean, the more spider webs you destroy. Effective spider control therefore goes hand in hand with thorough and careful cleaning hygiene.

Position the compost heap correctly
Spiders stay where they find plenty to eat. A good way to combat spiders is therefore not to place the compost directly next to the window, otherwise the creepy-crawlies will be magically attracted to it.

Catch them correctly and take them outside
If you dare, you can also catch the spiders. Here's how: put glass over them and paper underneath. Then set them out at least 50 meters away from the house.
