On average, they spend about an hour on Facebook and WhatsApp. This reveals the important role that new media now play in our lives. However, there is also a risk that we become very dependent on them. We realize this at the latest when we have to do without a tablet or smartphone for a day or two...

And not just because of the messages from family and friends that temporarily don't reach us. There's another reason too: in addition to messages, the device also contains personal files such as photos and videos. In the English-speaking world, there is even a term for this new phenomenon: nomophobia.

It describes the anxiety-like state (phobia) that arises in us when we don't have our smartphone with us.
