News from What's App: Eight great tricks for the popular chat app

Why not send your loved ones a voice message via What's App? They are sure to be happy to hear your voice.

Already chatted today? These functions will make it even more fun from now on.

1. save

Press and hold the message in the chat. A star appears in the bar at the top. Press this: The message is now saved.

2. distribution list

Sending text to several people without them seeing to whom? Select "Create broadcast" on the start page. Add desired contacts, write text, send.

3. font play

To emphasize (bold) a word, place an asterisk at the beginning and end (*love*). For italic text, frame the desired word with an underline (_love_).

4. send GIFs

Start the camera function and record a short video (max. 6 seconds). Press GIF at the top right, then send the animated image to the desired contacts.

5. delete message

Hold down the message with your finger and select "Delete". Works up to seven minutes after sending the text. However, the chat partner will see that the message has been deleted.

6. voice message

Place your finger on the voice recording button, swipe upwards, lift your finger and record the text: This eliminates the need to keep your finger on the button.

7. status

Tap "Settings", "Account", "Privacy", "Status" and "Select" in succession. Then specify which contacts should see your status.

8. appointments

For iOS: Dates and times are underlined. Press the desired appointment, then "Create event": transfer to calendar app.
