What to do if something goes wrong when blowing out a candle?

Getting wax out of the tablecloth or clothing

It is important to know that wax is not soluble in water. If some candle wax has spilled, let it cool down well first. Never try to rub the wax away while it is still liquid, as this will only make matters worse, as the wax could get even deeper into the fabric. Once the wax has cooled down, you can first carefully try to scrape as much of it off the fabric as possible by hand.

For light soiling: It often helps to place the garment in the freezer. The cold ensures that the wax hardens properly and can then be removed easily.

For more stubborn wax stains: Now it's time to use the iron. Place a sheet of blotting paper or an old tea towel on top of the stain and ideally also underneath it. Now go over the affected area with the iron on a medium heat until the wax stains come loose from the fabric and stick to the paper or tea towel.

Finally, you can apply a stain remover to the affected areas and then wash the clothing or tablecloth in the washing machine according to the washing instructions.

Removing wax stains from a wooden table

The hairdryer trick helps here. Blow-dry the affected area until the candle wax becomes liquid again and can be easily removed. Wipe away the rest with a sponge or cloth.

Another method against wax stains is olive oil. Put some oil on a cloth and rub it into the affected areas on the wood. The oil should help to remove the wax from the wood and also have a caring effect on it.
