Oh shock, the stain has to go! Even stubborn stains can be removed with professional tricks.

A normal wash cycle is often not enough for stubborn stains. But not every fabric can withstand high temperatures or harsh chemicals. It doesn't have to be - sometimes simple household remedies work best anyway.

Sweat stains

Soak for a long time or use aspirin

Tip 1: It is best to soak the T-shirt in a solution of a tablespoon of brandy vinegar and 1/4 liter of warm water immediately after taking it off. Then rub the stain with a sponge. Acidic bathroom cleaner can also remove sweat stains.

Tip 2: Use Aspririn! Due to the salicylic acid contained in aspirin, the painkillers work wonderfully as a stain remover - especially against sweat stains. Crush two tablets and add to a little water until a paste is formed. Spread the paste on the affected areas and leave to work for at least half an hour. Wash out with lukewarm water and put in the machine. Do not use on delicate fabrics!

Deodorant

Acid makes stain-free

Add two tablespoons of citric acid to 1 liter of warm water and soak light-colored clothing overnight. Alternatively, use vinegar essence for dark-colored clothing.

Bicycle grease

Canned milk and washing-up liquid helps

Mix tinned milk and washing-up liquid in a 1:1 ratio. Rub into the spots, leave to work in well and then wash out thoroughly.

Ash

Cooking oil against grill stains

Sweep off with a brush. However, if the soot has already settled, treat it with a little cooking oil. Wash out with washing-up liquid and put in the machine.

Fruit and berries

It's the milk that does it

Simply soak the garment in milk instead of water for several hours, then wash as normal. Or immediately apply soapy water, table vinegar or lemon juice to the stain and rinse well with water - and then put it in the washing machine

Remove grease stains

Vacuum out the stain

First soak up the grease with kitchen paper. Then dab the stain with a sponge soaked in cold water, add a little hand washing detergent and leave to soak in hot water for half an hour. Or: Sprinkle fresh stains with potato flour, leave for approx. 15 minutes and brush off carefully. The powdery consistency absorbs the grease.

Flowerbed soil

Allow to dry first

Fresh soil stains are more stubborn. Therefore: first allow to dry and harden, then brush off well. Pre-treat with gall soap before washing.

Oily sun cream

Lather up well

The higher the sun protection factor, the more stubborn the stain. It is best to apply washing-up liquid and lather well. Leave to work for half an hour. Liquid detergent has more surfactants, so the grease dissolves more easily.

Colorful pollen

Stick the stain away

Carefully remove the flower particles with adhesive tape. Dab the stain with white spirit and then wash out with oxygen bleach.

Grass stains

Rub out vigorously

Soak in cold water for a few minutes and rub vigorously. Then treat with gall soap and rinse. Ammonia from the drugstore also works well on robust materials. Then put the textiles in the washing machine as usual.

Heavy red wine

A professional is needed

The nightmare of all stains! Some people swear by household remedies such as salt or lemon to remove red wine stains. However, it is best to dilute the red wine immediately: drizzle water onto the fabric with a sponge and then use a special red wine stain remover.

Tomato ketchup

Putting on the knife

Before washing, carefully scrape the ketchup from the clothing so that it does not penetrate deeper into the fibers. Then place in cold water, soak for 2 hours and dab off the stains. For stubborn stains, pre-treat with vinegar, gall soap or white spirit.

Dried blood

Cold instead of warm water

Stretch the fabric over a bowl and run a two percent saline solution through it. Cold water is also sufficient for fresh blood. If necessary, put it in the machine with an enzyme-containing detergent afterwards.

Chocolate ice cream

Help from the kitchen

Dark ice cream stains look particularly nasty. Dissolve a dishwashing tab in hot water and soak the garment in it for a good half hour. Then wash as normal.
