Tips for smartphones: use, protect and clean smartly

Some of us find it hard to think back to the times "without" - because the smartphone makes our lives so much easier: making appointments, researching information or simply listening to music. You can enjoy your device for longer if you follow a few tips for your smartphone.

Our cell phone is our constant companion. And that's why we should know all about it.

Good protection

  • You should enter a security code so that no stranger can use the cell phone.
  • Write down the serial number (IMEI) so that you can give it to the police if the device is stolen.
  • You can retrieve it by pressing the key combination *#06#.
  • Android users should always install an antivirus app.
  • Do not send sensitive data via free WLAN.

Charge quickly

The battery level should not fall below 30 percent. Remove the smartphone from the charging station when it reaches around 80 percent. The battery will last longer if you reduce the display brightness and close all unused apps. Incidentally, the device charges twice as fast in flight mode than in online mode.

Keep it clean properly

According to a Bitcom survey, only one in four cell phone owners regularly wipe their display. This is where many germs collect, especially during the cold season. It is best to clean it once a week with a special cleaner.

Delete data

On the iPhone: tap "Settings", "General", "Reset", "Delete content & settings" in succession.
On Android: "Settings", "Security", "Encrypt phone" and "Backup & reset".
