Yikes! How do I get rid of spiders in the house?

Many of us are disgusted by the eight-legged creatures. Especially now that fall is slowly approaching, these creepy-crawlies like to hide in nooks, crannies and cracks in our homes. Researchers estimate that up to 300 spiders live in one house. But even if they are useful and eat insects: If one crosses our path, we want it gone as quickly as possible. The only question is, how do we effectively get rid of spiders in the house? We have a few tips.

Fly screens

Once the wasp and mosquito season is over, the nets are quickly taken down again. But they are also ideal for preventing spiders from entering the house through windows and doors in the first place. Lavender plants or scented candles with a lavender aroma also deter spiders from nesting in our homes.

Insect catchers

Drugstores or online stores such as Amazon sell special devices that can catch spiders without having to touch them. The principle: you place the device over the animal and then close the chamber in which it sits. The spider can then be released outside without any problems.

Vacuum cleaner

Some people swear by this method, but even with a high wattage, there is a high probability that the spider will die - it is therefore better not to use the vacuum cleaner, as this can spread the spiders around the house. In addition, dead spiders in the bag release toxins into the exhaust air.

Glass

An animal-friendly and simple option: put the jar over the spider and carefully push a piece of cardboard under the edge. Take it outside and tip the jar out in a bed or on a patch of grass.
