If you want to learn to sew, you first need to make a few preparations. Before you start sewing your desired object, be it an item of clothing, a bag or a cushion cover, you need to set up your sewing machine correctly. The desired thread must be threaded into the sewing machine and the stitch length and stitch type must be set.

Then you can start sewing. Sewing the thread is important to prevent the seam from unraveling. The thread should therefore be sewn at both the beginning and the end.

Learning to sew: how it works

Sewing is very simple. Insert the pattern pieces to be sewn and lower the presser foot with the small lever. Now simply sew 2 - 3 stitches forward, as shown in the video instructions. Then press and hold the reverse sewing lever and sew 2 - 3 stitches backwards. Release the lever and continue sewing as normal.

When you have sewn the seam to the end, the process is repeated once again. Engage reverse gear and sew 2 - 3 stitches back and 2 - 3 stitches forward. Your first seam is finished!
