What is a concealed zipper?
Because it is barely visible, the concealed zipper is also known as an invisible zipper and is used especially for elegant clothing. It is characterized by its inward spiral and the delicate, drop-shaped slider and is available in many different colors.
Sewing instructions for beginners
- Lay the fabric pieces together and measure 1 cm seam allowance and mark with tailor's chalk. Open the concealed zipper and pin it along the marked lines.
- Sew the outer edge of the zipper in place with a large stitch until just before the zipper and along the inner edge next to the teeth. Close the zipper to check the fit.
- Now put on the second side and pin in place with pins to match the left side. Repeat the sewing process on this side.
- Close the concealed zipper and pin the fabric pieces right sides together. Then sew the remaining seam up to the zipper seam and a few millimetres beyond.
