As soon as the weather shows its sunny side again, it's time to head out into the garden or park with a book. What could be more practical than a cozy cushion with a small bag?
Sew your own cushion cover: here's how
- Cut a piece of fabric of your choice in 30 x 42 cm. Mark the hem about 2 cm from the edge.
- Cut another piece of fabric in 20 x 42 cm and mark 2 cm for the hem here too.
- Fold the hem over at the marking and press, then fold in half again and press over. Repeat the steps for the second piece of fabric.
- Topstitch the hems on both pieces of fabric using the sewing machine.
- Cut another piece of fabric to 30 x 42 cm and sew on the bias tape using the sewing machine, fold in and topstitch.
- For the back, place the first two pieces of fabric on top of each other so that they are 42 cm long and pin in place.
- Now cut a fourth piece of fabric measuring 42 x 42 cm for the front of the cushion and pin the piece of fabric with the bias tape to it.
- Now pin the front and back right sides together and sew all the way around. The cushion cover can now be turned inside out.
