High, higher, highest: the most fascinating buildings in the world

If you dare, you can enjoy the most amazing views from these skyscrapers, Ferris wheels or glass platforms - but you shouldn't be afraid of heights here. Impressive, but also a little scary - these are the tallest buildings in the world.

Burj Khalifa
The world's tallest building currently towers 828 meters above Dubai's skyline. But that is not the skyscraper's only record. With 189 floors, it also has the most storeys. The 122nd floor is home to the restaurant "At. Mosphere", the highest restaurant in the world. And on the lower floors, you can stay in the elegant "Armani Hotel", which the fashion designer designed himself.

Sirocco Restaurant
242 meters above Bangkok, the open-air terrace of the "Sirocco Restaurant" offers a breathtaking view over the metropolis of millions. And it has already called Hollywood to the scene: in the movie "Hangover 2", the "Sky Bar" was the setting for a turbulent men's evening. Since then, the "Hangovertini" drink has been served here.

Skywalk
The Grand Canyon Skywalk hovers 1,200 meters above the abyss. The special thing about the horseshoe-shaped viewing platform is that the floor is completely transparent. A glass floor around seven centimetres thick provides a spectacular view into the depths. There, the Colorado River meanders through the canyon, framed by almost vertical rock faces.

High Roller Las Vegas
The "High Roller" takes you 167 meters to the top. The highest Ferris wheel in the world is located in Las Vegas and attracts numerous tourists. During the day, the wheel impresses with its size alone; at night, 2,000 LED lights make it shine. But the competition never sleeps - the 190-metre-high "New York Wheel" is due to be built by 2017.

Sand Skypark
It rises 191 meters to the roof terrace of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Covering an area of 1.2 hectares, it features a well-tended garden with exotic flowers and trees. If you need to cool off from all the amazement, you can refresh yourself in the world's largest infinity pool and enjoy the panoramic view over Singapore.
