Cleaning glasses: How to get glasses clean again
Care must be taken when cleaning glasses, otherwise the lenses may be scratched. Under no circumstances should you simply clean your glasses on your shirt. Fine dirt particles in clothing can cause tiny scratches on the lenses, causing them to become dull over time.
- For light soiling: Rinse your glasses under clear water and then dab them dry with a cotton tea towel. If you like, you can polish with a clean microfiber cloth.
- For heavier soiling: A drop of mild washing-up liquid on the glasses ensures an optimal view. Wash this off with lukewarm water and then dry the glasses with a clean tea towel.
No-gos when cleaning glasses
- Do not use kitchen roll or paper towels to dry your glasses. The wood fibers they contain will scratch the lenses!
- It is better not to use damp glasses cleaning cloths on plastic lenses. The alcohol can damage the lenses.
