Clean the toilet properly - here's how!
They say that the hallway is the calling card of the house - but this also applies to the bathroom and toilet. When guests have to go to the toilet and it's not spotless, people are quick to turn up their noses. But sometimes the housewife or househusband is wrong, because many people clean the toilet regularly and yet it doesn't seem to want to get really clean. Stubborn stains such as urine scale are to blame. Here are some tips for a shiny toilet:
1. spread the cleaning agent evenly in the bowl.
2. clean the toilet: Cleaner must be allowed to work -- at least 10 minutes.
3. clean the toilet with the toilet brush, even under the rim - apply pressure.
4. do not flush immediately, but leave everything to soak in.
5. the seat, rim and bowl should also be cleaned with a household cleaner.
Which cleaners to use?
Basically: The toilet and sink should always be cleaned with a separate cloth so that you do not spread the faecal bacteria. There are of course many cleaners available. Make sure that you do not mix them together, as this can produce toxic fumes. The more often you clean the toilet with a brush, preferably after every major visit to the toilet, the less harsh chemicals you will need. It is best to use toilet cleaners that are adhesive so that they can work in better - and this is the key to a clean toilet: it's not the amount of cleaner, but the time it takes to work in! The longer the products adhere, the better the toilet can be cleaned.
Stubborn urine scale must be removed with a suitable urine scale remover. These often contain strong acids such as hydrochloric or formic acid. Unfortunately, household remedies such as vinegar or citric acid do not help with heavy incrustations. So always use such a product separately!
Extra tips: Toilet cleaners are already germicidal anyway. Therefore, you don't need any special or additional disinfectants that are supposed to kill up to 99 percent of bacteria. What's more, billions of bacteria are excreted after every bowel movement. This means that, in theory, you would have to clean the toilet thoroughly with antibacterial agents after every bowel movement if you want to be absolutely germ-free. Don't use the flush water too sparingly - it has an important function against soiling.
