Do It Yourself: Build your own herb rack
What you need to build a herb rack:
Wooden board
Three tin cans
Tin snips
Protective gloves
Nails, hammer
Soil, herbs
Cost: around 20 euros.
Step 1: Cut open the cans
Use tin snips to cut open the cans lengthwise. Very important: To avoid injuring yourself, put on protective gloves from the DIY store.
Step 2: Cut the prongs
Now bend open the sides of the cans and cut four prongs into the metal on the right and left. Are they not all the same size? No problem - that adds a bit of variation.
Step 3: Bend the bottom
Bend the bottom of the cans up vertically so that they fit straight on the wooden board. Despite wearing protective gloves, always pay attention to the sharp edges.
Step 4: Attach the cans
Now nail the tins to the wooden board using the prongs. How you arrange them is entirely up to you. Then fill the tins with potting compost and herbs.
