Flies are a real nuisance in summer!

Blowflies, flesh flies, houseflies and fruit flies can really get on our nerves right now. The even more important point: blowflies in particular lay eggs, which is why they are not harmless to humans and animals. That's why it's important to keep these 5 things in mind:

Fighting flies in the home: these 5 things really help

1. avoid open food in the home

In summer, hygiene in the kitchen is paramount - don't leave any leftover food outside, as it magically attracts flies.

2. clear away dirty dishes immediately

Don't feel like clearing the dishes today? Then fruit flies and blowflies will be all over the leftovers in no time at all. Make sure you wash dirty dishes immediately or put them in the dishwasher.

3. do not leave pet food lying around

Wet cat and dog food is a favorite of blowflies - so portion out the food for your pets so that everything is eaten. Any leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Also clean the food bowls immediately!

4. watch out for smelly garbage cans

Fermenting fruit, meat scraps - the buffet for blowflies and fruit flies is open! Always close your bin liners tightly and put them in the garbage can more often. In summer, food decomposes much faster due to the heat, which is why odors develop more quickly.

5. install fly screens

Especially in the countryside, but also in the city, you should have fly screens in front of your windows. They keep all bugs out and you have peace and quiet from mosquitoes at night. It's really worth it, because you can leave the windows open at any time of day. Fly screens are available here>>
