Food or clothes moths often appear in the home. Food moths prefer to eat dry food, such as flour, pasta, baking powder and also pet food. They can lay their eggs anywhere. A moth infestation is often discovered because a moth flies out when a cupboard is opened.
Food moths also leave thin whitish threads in food, which are called webs. They like to hide in the cracks and crevices of cupboards. The larvae of the clothes moth leave small feeding holes in clothing, textiles or carpets. They also leave webs on clothing.

Get rid of clothes moths:
If you discover moth holes in your clothes, you should act quickly to prevent more textiles from being infested. Wash the textiles at a temperature of at least 60 °C to kill the eggs. Sensitive items that should not be washed at high temperatures should be placed in the freezer. Two to three days at -17 °C should kill the eggs.
Tip:Lavender sachets or cedar wood in the closet are a good way to prevent clothes moths. Moths don't like these smells at all!
Fight food moths with vinegar:
Infested food should be thrown away immediately. Check all open packaging and throw away all infested food. Clear out the kitchen cupboards and clean them with vinegar water. To do this, mix vinegar essence with water in a ratio of 1:4.
Tip: To prevent moths in the future, always store all opened food in sealed containers to prevent the moths from laying eggs.
Get rid of moths using heat:
Both food and clothes moths hate heat, the eggs die at a temperature of 50 °C or higher. Use a hairdryer to blow into all the cracks and corners of the infested cupboards. Then wipe out the areas with a cloth.
