These tricks will keep bouquets and fresh flowers looking beautiful for longer.

Pay attention to the cut

Fresh flowers that have been out of the water for more than ten minutes should be cut. To do this, cut the stems at an angle of 3-5 cm with a sharp knife.

The right water temperature

Flower water should be at room temperature and completely changed every 2-3 days. Flowers with woody stems, such as roses, will last longer if the ends are briefly held in boiling water.

The best location

Draughts, direct sunlight, cigarette smoke and heat from radiators cause flowers to fade more quickly. Also avoid proximity to fruit: It releases gases that accelerate wilting.

Avoid rotting processes

Regularly remove leaves from the water. Add a little sugar or half an aspirin to the water as a nutrient solution. Place in a cool room at night.

Pay attention to the water level

The water level should always be high enough so that all stems get enough water. If there is too little water, flowers can quickly wilt and dry out.
