You wash clothes in the washing machine - of course! But did you know that you can also put other things in the washing machine besides laundry? We reveal which 5 these are!

Instead of laundry: you can also wash these 5 things in the washing machine

You'll be surprised how easy life can be because you don't have to laboriously clean various things by hand, but can simply put them in the washing machine. You can rely on your machine for the following items:

1. things for hand washing: the prerequisite is that you have a good hand wash program - then it is usually no problem to wash especially excellent hand wash items with the washing machine. This includes, for example, lace lingerie or bras with underwires. You can even put clothes with beading or sequins in the hand wash program, but as I said: it depends on how good your machine is or how special the garment is. If in doubt, it is better to wash by hand or dry clean.

2. wool, silk & co: Natural materials such as wool and silk are normally simply aired outside, as frequent washing is not good for these materials. However, if they do need cleaning, you can wash them on the wool or delicate cycle. You can also put these materials in the hand wash program. However, you should never wash sweaters and co. on the normal program because they cannot withstand the high spin speed!

3. carpets, doormats and the like: You can also wash small wool carpets in the washing machine on the wool cycle. They should not be too large so that they get clean and are not completely crumpled afterwards. As described above, this material should not be spun normally. Wool car mats or bath mats can also be put in the washing machine. If they have a rubber coating on one side, it is better to wash them at low temperatures as this can otherwise come loose over time.

4. sneakers and sneakers: You can also put many sports shoes in the washing machine without any problems. However, please pay individual attention to which models are suitable. It is best to wash the shoes separately from the laundry.

5. shower curtain: The shower curtain is cleaned when you shower, isn't it? That would be nice, but soap residue actually gets stuck on. In addition, just like tile joints in the bathroom, the curtains can become spackly, i.e. mold can grow on them. Shower curtains should therefore be washed in the washing machine at regular intervals. Pay attention to the washing symbol; printed versions in particular are usually washed at 30 degrees.

Tip: To ensure that your washing machine lasts a long time, it should be looked after properly. For example, the lint filter should be cleaned regularly. This will keep the machine running smoothly!
