Let up the steam
The most common case of false alarms: you fry something nice and hot in the pan, the steam drifts into the hallway and the smoke detector sounds the alarm because it is installed near the kitchen door. So: either move it a little. If that doesn't work: make sure you close the door or create a strong draught.
Dust
If too much dust collects on the appliance, a false alarm may be triggered. Many appliances are already equipped with so-called dirt compensation. This prevents dust from getting in. If the smoke detector alarms often, it is worth replacing it.
Batteries
If they are empty, the detector starts to beep. Of course, this tends to happen in the middle of the night or when you are on vacation. To be on the safe side, replace the batteries every one to two years. Or you can buy a long-life lithium battery. They last ten years. Make a note of the change in your calendar!
