The quick solution: how to keep sofas comfortable for longer

Whether chic and stylish or cozy for snuggling up on - the sofa is often the focal point of the living room. It goes without saying that we attach particular importance to keeping it looking good for as long as possible. Here we tell you how to look after your personal cozy spot.

Made of leather

Often the eye-catcher in the living room: an elegant, chic couch that is comfortable to sit on and looks really great at the same time.

  • To protect the material, do not place it directly in front of the heating or where it is exposed to direct sunlight. Rub in a special leather care lotion once or twice a year.
  • Vacuum dust and dirt regularly. Rub off stained areas on suede upholstery with a special leather eraser or rubber cloth. Important: be sure to re-impregnate after each cleaning. Dab smooth leather once a week with a damp cloth and distilled water.
  • Unlike real leather, artificial leather must not be treated with oil or wax. Remove heavy soiling with a solution of water and a little liquid detergent. Work the sofa in a circular motion with a soft brush. Wipe well with clean water. Wiping with a microfiber cloth is sufficient in between.

  • Also do not place directly next to the heating and protect from direct sunlight. After getting up, smooth the upholstery with light pressure towards the edge and vacuum regularly. Remove crumbs in the crevices with a narrow crevice nozzle.
  • Most fresh stains can be dabbed away with a damp cloth and distilled water. Do not rub, otherwise the stain may increase. For stubborn stains, use a stain remover for upholstery or carpets.
  • Baking soda helps against odors. Simply apply it to the couch and leave it on overnight, then vacuum it up the next day. Caution: check the color fastness in a hidden place beforehand. For new color freshness, spray dry shampoo on a damp sponge and rub the upholstery. Then allow to dry well and vacuum thoroughly.
