26th Hanse Sail: Experience ships and live program from 11 - 14 August in Rostock

From August 11 to 14, Rostock and Warnemünde will once again attract thousands of onlookers from all over the world to the 26th Hanse Sail. More than 170 traditional sailing ships and museum ships from ten nations will attract an international audience to the Hanseatic city.

Experience ships and sail along

As usual, the ships will of course take center stage at the maritime festival. "It should be emphasized that among the guest ships are the two oldest and largest still active windjammers in the world, which are also celebrating remarkable anniversaries," explains Holger Bellgardt, head of the Hanse Sail office, enthusiastically. The Russian four-masted barque "Sedov" is celebrating its 95th birthday, the "Krusenstern" is 90 years old.

A special maritime highlight is the Polish full-rigged ship "Dar Mlodziezy" (built in 1982), which with its 108 meters length invites to a cruise on the Baltic Sea on August 11th from 5 to 10 pm, accompanied by the jazz band "The Marching Saints" from Rostock.

With the "Eye of the Wind", the oldest square-rigged sailing ship, a real Hollywood star is returning to its home port after 100 years. Interested sea and sight-seers can now experience the tall ship in full size and up close in Rostock's city harbor at berth 81, talk to the regular crew and, of course, collect the coveted on-board stamps.

Land program with celebrities

But of course the Hanse Sail also has a lot to offer for young and old on land. At the heart of the market is the fairground in the city harbor with around 400 market stalls and 60 rides. Celebrity guests such as soul singer Stefanie Heinzmann, Lou Bega and the Hermes House Band will provide a great atmosphere on the NDR stage.

The event area in the city harbor begins at the Silo peninsula, where the cogs are camped and life in the Hanseatic era is recreated with medieval stalls and sounds. With artistry, fairytale games and evening fire shows, there is a stage program for the whole family.

The Polish market is again part of the maritime festival since Poland was the partner country of the Hanse Sail for the first time in 2005. Polish specialties will be served in the Christinenhafen area.

FashionWeek provides glamor at the Hanse Sail

Glamor is also provided. In addition to the FashionWeek at the Warnemünde Week during the Hanse Sail, where fashion, art and people are brought together, the Miss Hanse Sail 2016 will also be crowned on Thursday at 5.30 pm.
