Diarrhea prophylaxis
Foreign food, an unfamiliar climate, contaminated drinking water - a vacation that is so relaxing for us is often quite stressful, especially for a sensitive stomach. If you know that you are prone to diarrhea, you can take preventative measures before you travel. Medicinal yeast (e.g. Perenterol Forte, available over the counter from pharmacies) has proved particularly effective here. Simply take one capsule a day from five days before the trip. The yeast binds possible diarrhoea pathogens, neutralizes bacterial toxins, has an anti-inflammatory effect and stabilizes the protective function of the intestinal flora.
Lemon against sunstroke
Especially at this time of year, people tend to underestimate the power of the sun. If it has been too much of a good thing, get into the shade immediately or, even better, into a darkened room. Raise your head a little higher and cover it with cold, damp cloths. Stir a few drops of lemon juice with a teaspoon of honey into a glass of lukewarm water five times a day and drink in small sips.
Pressure for travel sickness
Whether in the car or on a cruise on the high seas - the stomach often goes crazy. Acupressure can help against such travel sickness. To do this, place your left arm relaxed on your lap. The palm of your hand should be facing upwards. The right pressure point is three fingers wide under the bend of the wrist between the two tendons. Press firmly on this point with your thumb and index finger from both sides for about 10 seconds. Then massage with circular movements for a few minutes. You will often feel relief immediately, sometimes only after a few minutes. If in doubt, repeat.
