Stranded on a desert island like Robinson Crusoe? Better not! But we still want an island vacation!

Would you have known?

Robinson Crusoe Day has been celebrated on February 1 since 1999. It is to commemorate the rescue of Alexander Selkirk, who spent five years on the Chilean island of Mas a Tierra from 1704 to 1709. The stranded man had enough drinking water, fish and fruit on the deserted island to enable him to survive for five years until he was rescued. Today, the island is also known as Robinsón Crusoe Island in his memory.
