Alpine skiers can be found on the Feldberg (1493 m) on the World Cup course at Ahornbühl. Experts test the Fahler Loch (black piste) and boarders can be found in the well-prepared fun park. Snowshoeing on easy or more challenging routes around the highest peak in the Black Forest is also becoming increasingly popular.
Free skiing in a skiing paradise
In the picturesque ski resort of Hinterzarten, people of all ages get their money's worth at the Thoma ski center. Ice skating fans from near and far are drawn to Lake Titisee when it is frozen over again. You can easily get to Schluchsee in Altglashütten or Bärental by train.
Our tip for families: around 260 hosts have the "Hochschwarzwald Card" ready for you. If you book at least two nights, you get free travel on buses, trains and all ski lifts in the region. The use of cross-country skiing equipment is even free at 15 rental stations. In addition, there are many free admissions, for example to the bathing paradise in Titisee with palm oasis, wave pool, slides and saunas.
Travel tip: Black Forest metropolis Freiburg
Or how about a trip to the Black Forest metropolis of Freiburg? Picturesque alleyways in the old town and the cathedral are well worth a detour. In the market hall (Grünwälderstraße) you can sample local wines as well as international cuisine.
The Black Forest towns of St. Peter and St. Märgen are known for their beautiful baroque-style monastery churches. Later, between St. Märgen and Breitnau, the Thurnerspur, one of the most beautiful cross-country ski trails in Germany, invites you to enjoy winter sports at its finest. The sunny winter hiking trails are also a dream that you will always remember.
