Is sexual activity a danger to the heart?

Do people with heart disease have to refrain from lovemaking because it would increase the risk of a heart attack? This was not clear until now. Researchers at the University of Ulm have looked into the issue and can now give the all-clear for the long term.

People with heart disease don't have to give up sex, but there is one thing to bear in mind!

Researchers at the University of Ulm have found out: Heart attacks are only very rarely triggered by sexual activity. This was the result of a long-term study in which more than 500 men and women between the ages of 30 and 70 who had previously suffered a heart attack were interviewed over the course of ten years. This means that people with heart disease do not have to restrict their usual sex life.

Erectile dysfunction due to heart medication

However, people with heart disease should be aware of one thing: Some heart medications cause erectile dysfunction. If you also take nitrates plus sexual enhancers for erectile dysfunction due to heart problems, there is a risk of a drop in blood pressure or even unconsciousness. So caution is advised here!
