As a sexologist, I deal with the most exciting topics in our lives: love and sexuality! The two are closely intertwined and affect each of us in one way or another. And nowhere is more research being done than here. As sexuality cannot be confined to one specialist area, there are new findings every day from a wide variety of scientific disciplines. Medicine, biology, psychology, anthropology, sociology, endocrinology, history and many more - they all want to know how the mystery of human sexuality comes about. All our experiences, our upbringing and changing social perceptions make each individual's sexual experience as unique as a fingerprint.
One thing I can tell you right now is that sexuality is so much more than lust and arousal!
Through sexuality we express love and affection, convey trust, security, closeness and intimacy. Sex is the body language form of communication. I am always impressed when people have the courage to talk to me about their most secret desires and fantasies. There is so much liveliness and ingenuity. But the difficulties we sometimes have to struggle with are just as individual. These are the topics that come up in sexual counseling.
