Wine in cosmetics: how beautiful does grape juice really make you?

You've heard and read it so often: The famous glass of red wine a day is supposed to lead to better health. But why is that? And what should you do if you don't want to drink wine every day or are worried that you might not be able to do without it at some point? Simply smearing grape juice on your skin instead won't help... Or will it? vinoa.de explains why grapes are often referred to as "anti-ageing stars"...

Does red wine really make you beautiful?

The blue wonder of nature

The "miracle" from the sweet and juicy grapes is not only blue, but also green. Both red and white wine are full of beneficial ingredients. However, as these are mostly hidden in the seeds and skin, red wine reaps fame and glory as a (moderately consumed) health-promoting magic potion. This is because the must (the pressed grape juice) is fermented for white wine, while the mash is used for red wine. In addition to grape juice and pulp, this also contains the skins and seeds and therefore the lion's share of the important ingredients OPC and resveratrol.

Lots of antioxidants to protect our cells

Red and white wine may be a matter of taste. However, there is nothing to argue about the numerous positive properties of the ingredients in grapes. So it's no wonder that these talents have not remained hidden from the cosmetics industry for long. Numerous creams, peelings, oils, powders, gels, masks, shampoos and even nutritional supplements are now available to counteract skin ageing, among other things. But what exactly is hidden in these little grapes of power? An explanation of the two most important ingredients for cosmetics:

OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins): The OPC contained in the highest concentration in grape seeds is considered to be the most powerful antioxidant. In addition to countless other positive properties, it strengthens blood vessels, reduces tissue damage, acts as a multiplier for vitamin C and has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is even said to have acancer-preventive effect. A comparison with vitamins reveals the extraordinary strength of OPC. It is 40 times more powerful than vitamin E, which is known to scavenge free radicals and thus protect against rapid ageing. It also beats two other vitamins hands down: 18 times stronger than vitamin C and still 10 times stronger than vitamin A.

Resveratrol: This phytoalexin with antioxidant properties is mainly found in grape skin and normally protects plants from parasites and fungal infections. However, it also has amazingly positive properties in the human body. For example, it acts as an activator for sirtuin enzymes, which are responsible for cell regeneration - earning it a reputation as an "anti-ageing and skin expert". But that's not all. Studies have also found positive effects on heart disease, arteriosclerosis and arthritis.

Cosmetics made from wine - powerful substances to apply or ingest

With so much goodness hidden in the grapes, you might want to go on a wine (grape) diet. But who really wants to eat kilos of grapes a day in the long term? The wine cosmetics products ensure that we can also supply our body with OPC and resveratrol from the outside in a very convenient (and beneficial) way. The brand SanVino, for example, offers a wide range of care products based on grape seed oil, grape seed flour and grape seed meal for face and body - completely without parabens, silicones or mineral oils. CARPE VINO 's 100% organic products also offer an elegant alternative to excessive grape consumption.
