Our favorite vegetables in autumn
Our favorite autumn vegetable is and remains pumpkin, of course. Hokkaido, butternut & co. make great stews and soups or even waffles and pancakes. But parsnips are also in season now and are particularly suitable as a side dish for hearty dishes and casseroles.
Delicious and healthy: fall fruit
In addition to pears, plums and a large selection of juicy, regional apples, we can now also look forward to quinces. The yellow autumn fruit is in season from September to November and also tastes delicious as jelly.
Here we reveal which vegetables and fruits are still in season in the fall and why they are so healthy:
- Pumpkin is rich in vitamins, minerals and filling fiber
- Beet slows down gradual inflammation and has an antioxidant effect
- Apple lowers cholesterol levels and helps you lose weight thanks to its high fiber content
- Brussels sprouts are rich in nutrients, vitamins and bitter substances and thus protect against colds
- Parsnips are rich in carbohydrates and are perfect for soups and purees
- Although quinces are inedible raw, the fruit is delicious when prepared and is good for the stomach and intestines thanks to its high pectin, tannin and fiber content
