For all earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): Royal bathing bliss with milk & honey
Cleopatra bathed in donkey's milk with honey and salt. The nourishing, softening components of milk were already known back then. Nowadays, milk is usually replaced by whey. It has the same effect and also inspires modern skin researchers. They found so-called growth factors in milk that stimulate skin cells to divide more frequently. This keeps the skin young and rosy. In addition, milk fat stabilizes the skin's protective acid mantle and smoothes dryness lines. Lactic acid binds moisture and acts as an exfoliant. The minerals and vitamins it contains stimulate the metabolism. The convenient alternative for at home: ready-made bath milk with nourishing additives such as coconut butter or camomile, or delicately scented bath milk powder. Of course, fresh milk, buttermilk or cream yogurt will also work. For a very private, exclusive Cleopatra bath, mix 1-2 liters of goat's or cow's milk (smells better) with two handfuls of sea salt and 3 teaspoons of honey. Once the honey and salt have dissolved, add everything to the warm bath water. After bathing, do not rinse the skin, but pat dry. Tip: Although baths with real milk make the skin super soft, they can spread unpleasant odors. Sensitive noses are best advised to add 10 drops of their favorite aromatic oil to the bath.
For all water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): Fresh breeze
Salt detoxifies the skin. All those who regularly swim in the sea or go to thalassotherapy know this. The skin becomes firmer, better supplied with blood and looks fresher. The secret lies in the removal of unnecessary tissue water and the detachment of calluses. At the same time, minerals and trace elements are introduced. This is because the salty water is similar to human blood plasma in terms of its composition and content of nutrients and minerals. This is why these substances can also be exchanged via the skin. There are plenty of ready-made bath salts for the sea breeze in your own bath, pure or with different fragrances added. Dead Sea salt is particularly rich in smoothing and healing minerals. Its composition has a positive effect on the firmness of the tissue and relaxes the muscles. Dead Sea salt also regulates sebaceous gland production and helps with impurities. Liquid salt is very popular: it melts into a gel on contact with water and can be used for both showering and bathing. Tip: Because salt draws water from the body, drink at least one large glass of mineral water after the bath. And: Even if your skin feels nice and firm now, you should still apply cream.
For all air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Nourishing baths with oils
Dry skin in particular will be delighted with an oil bath. In contrast to bubble baths, oil baths are not used for cleansing, but are pure skin care rituals. Therefore: Take a shower beforehand and carefully rinse off any soap or gel residue. Then fill the tub with warm water. Before you get into the waves, you can apply a body oil to your body. Base oils made from soy, wheat germ, almonds, avocado and jojoba have an intensive regenerating effect. Essential fatty acids have a particularly moisturizing and lipid-replenishing effect, so you don't need to apply cream after the bath. Many new oil baths are available in different fragrances and have a relaxing, revitalizing and refreshing effect in addition to their nourishing properties. Of course, you can also mix your own beauty elixir.
An oil bath for mature skin requires 4 drops of sandalwood oil, 4 drops of jasmine oil and 2 tablespoons of wheat germ oil. Mix everything together and add to the warm bath water. Alternatively, oil the body or particularly dry areas with wheat germ oil and relax in the bath for approx. 15 minutes at 36 degrees. Tip: Do not rub the skin dry after the oil bath.
For all fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Fragrant mood enhancers
If your mood is at rock bottom, a warm aromatic bath can work wonders. Because nothing influences our mood faster than a fragrance. Aromatic oils are extracted from flowers, leaves or roots - usually by steam distillation. They are not greasy but volatile and are therefore called essential oils. As a bath additive, they have an enormous effect on the mind and well-being. They can be used for relaxation, calming, stimulation or refreshment and are often part of a holistic aroma therapy. While the water opens the pores, some of the oil is absorbed by the skin, the rest evaporates in heat and steam and is inhaled. Extracts of lavender (e.g. from Nivea, tetesept), rose and camomile have a balancing and relaxing effect. Neroli, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and geranium increase sensuality. Ginger and lime have an invigorating effect. Lemon, mandarin and peppermint refresh and stimulate creativity. Bergamot is known to lift the mood. Camphor and rosemary relieve tension and muscle pain. Aroma bath made easy: mix 10 drops of one or more aromatic oils together. Important: never apply essential oils to bare skin. This may trigger allergies. To ensure that they are well distributed in the water and can develop their full effect, mix them with half a cup of care oil, cream or body milk beforehand. For the famous Aphrodite bath, you need 3 drops of neroli, 2 drops of ylang-ylang and 1 drop of bergamot with half a cup of cream.
