German TV lottery launches #sinnvollschenken campaign

Just in time for the upcoming Christmas season, the German TV lottery is calling for thoughtful giving with its #sinnvollschenken campaign. Together with sponsored projects, from facilities for the homeless to neighborhood initiatives, and socially committed partners, the social lottery is presenting gift ideas on its du-bist-ein-gewinn.de portal that not only bring joy, but also make the world a better place.

We shouldn't just use the Christmas season to give presents to family and friends. After all, there are countless people in our society who urgently need our help,

says Christian Kipper, Managing Director of the Deutsche Fernsehlotterie and the Stiftung Deutsches Hilfswerk. With the #sinnvollschenken campaign, the TV lottery shows how helping and giving can be combined. Until Christmas Eve, du-bist-ein-gewinn.de offers many gift ideas and stories about Christmas in institutions supported by the TV lottery.

The TV lottery tickets are a suitable example of a gift idea. With the MEGA-LOTTO, for example, recipients have the chance to win attractive cash prizes of up to one million euros every week or an instant pension of up to 5,000 euros a month as well as non-cash prizes such as cars or trips. At the same time, ticket purchases support charitable projects throughout Germany. The other partners in the #sinnvollschenken campaign are pursuing a similar social objective: the Zeit statt Zeug initiative is calling for more shared experiences instead of blind consumption. Bridge&Tunnel gives people with a migration background a professional perspective. ChariTea supports small farmers in Africa and Latin America. The Avocadostore offers young, sustainable brands a platform and at Alte Liebe, senior citizens crochet hats and experience community cohesion.

Inspiration for #sinnvollschenken also comes from the projects supported by the Fernsehlotterie. The AWO project "Quartier Brolingplatz" looks after social neighborhoods in Lübeck. Director Frieda Stahmer sees Christmas as a good opportunity to give time to families and neighbors. Andreas Bischke, head of the Herz As day care center in Hamburg, recommends "giving the gift of experiences that many people would otherwise not be able to afford: for example, a trip to the theater or museum." This creates fond memories and contributes to participation in social life.
