Dry skin
If the skin feels tight or even flakes, it lacks lipids. The skin barrier then becomes porous and moisture is lost - a condition that occurs more and more frequently in winter, as the rapid change between dry heating air indoors and freezing cold outside can quickly damage the skin and put a strain on it. Dry skin also ages more quickly, which is why you should take prompt countermeasures. Due to the lack of moisture and dead cells on the surface, the complexion often looks dull, matt and sallow. Proper care starts with cleansing - an oil-based product is ideal here because it is moisturizing. Foam dissolves too many skin oils.
Sensitive skin
A sensitive complexion reacts to the slightest irritation with itching or redness. The skin is particularly thin and dry and has a pronounced early warning system. Anything that protects and envelops it is good for it. The impaired barrier function can be strengthened with the right care so that irritation triggers bounce off it as much as possible. The ideal products should contain few different active ingredients, be low in irritants and free from fragrances and preservatives. Products with surfactants (such as facial cleansers) and substances with alcohol (e.g. toners, tonics) as well as excessively hot water should be avoided at all costs for this skin type.
Oily skin
First things first: skin of this type stays firm and wrinkle-free for longer. But it needs particularly good care, as oily skin tends to have large pores, produces an oily film on the forehead, chin and nose and is often plagued by blackheads and spots. The complexion quickly becomes shiny, which is why many people reach for a little powder to cover up the annoying shine. The aim of skincare is to remove excess oil without drying out the skin. The focus is particularly on cleansing (see left). And a detox mask once a week works wonders. Mattifying, antibacterial creams help to prevent oily shine.
Mature skin
This type has high demands. With increasing age, the skin becomes thinner, drier and loses elasticity. The reason: collagen and hyaluronic acid decrease, so the skin needs a moisturizing care cream with lipids and special anti-age ingredients such as peptides, retinol, vitamins E and C, Q10 or hyaluronic acid. Night care, serums, ampoules, oils and masks are also very effective. Good anti-wrinkle care works on two levels: It compensates for water loss and helps the skin to retain moisture for longer. Serums are applied before day or night care, oil can also be added to the cream - this gives the skin more radiance.
