Frosé - the pink wine slushie (with recipe)

The late summer trend cocktail straight from New York is making its way into Germany's glasses! The summer drink of 2016 - wine slushies - recently became a trend in its own right in a New York bar: Frosé. But what is behind "Frosé"?

Frosé is the pink-colored wine slushie

Frosé is made up of the words "frozen" and "rosé", which simply means frozen rosé wine. The principle of frosé is the same as the popular summer drink wine slushies. A pink-colored ice cream mass with a good portion of "Schwipps" ends up in our glasses and refreshes us on warm summer evenings or in hot trendy clubs.

Recently born in a trendy New York bar - and long since established throughout the city - the trendy drink is taking Instagram by storm and is slowly making its way to Germany. But if you don't want to wait until your favorite bar or club has the drink on the menu, we can reassure you, because Frosé can easily be made at home.

Frosé - make it yourself quickly at home

Making your own frosé is not difficult at all. You don't need an ice cream machine or a slushie maker. Simply pour rosé wine into ice cube trays and place them in the freezer for at least six hours to freeze. Due to the alcohol, the rosé wine cubes may not freeze completely - but this is not a problem.

Then place the frozen rosé wine in a blender with some sugar syrup (or strawberry syrup) and the juice of half a lemon. Now crush everything at the highest setting until the frosé has the desired slushie consistency. Then pour into nice glasses and enjoy!
