Skin care starts with the right facial cleanser. We reveal what is important here.

Why do you need a facial cleanser?

Our face is exposed to a large amount of impurities every day. You should therefore remove sweat and sebum, especially after sleeping. However, the focus of cleansing should be on the evening, as make-up needs to be removed and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin during the day need to be removed. Only when your skin is cleansed can it recover sufficiently overnight, breathe a sigh of relief and glow again the next morning. However, thorough facial cleansing involves more than just soap and water. There are countless care products that are suitable for cleansing. However, it is important that you know your skin type. Because using the wrong cleansing lotion or an unsuitable toner can do more damage to your skin!

Facial cleansing for normal skin

Many people have so-called normal skin. Pimples or dry patches of skin are rare with this skin type and the skin's moisture balance is generally very balanced. This means that your skin is not shiny, but does not dry out either. Nevertheless, this skin should also be cleansed properly. You should therefore cleanse your face in the morning and evening with mild products, for example with a cleansing gel with a pH value of 5.5. You should also use a scrub once a week to gently remove dead skin cells. However, you should not overdo it with exfoliation, as this can destroy the skin's natural protective film.

The right facial cleanser for oily skin

Do you often have blackheads and spots and does your skin tend to shine in the afternoon? Then you belong to the "oily skin" group. Sebum production is particularly high in this skin type and it is therefore important to limit it. Particularly thorough cleansing is necessary to remove excess sebum from the pores so that pimples are less likely to form. Nevertheless, always use gentle cleansers and not aggressive ones. A pH-neutral cleansing gel is suitable for this. You should also make sure that you never rub the skin with a towel after cleansing, but only dab it gently. Rubbing additionally stresses the skin. You should also exfoliate once a week to keep your pores clear. Peelings with salicylic acid are particularly effective against pimples. Avoid using comedogenic skin care products. You should therefore stay away from skin care products that contain oils. For oily skin, the focus is more on providing sufficient moisture!

Facial cleansing for dry, sensitive and combination skin

Does your skin regularly flake and tighten? Then your skin lacks moisture and oil. And this is where you should start. You should use particularly mild cleansing products that are as fragrance-free as possible. You should also only ever cleanse your skin with lukewarm water, as hot water dries out your skin even more. You should rarely use exfoliants. Gentle cleansing oils or a cleansing milk will ensure that your skin is sufficiently moisturized.

If you have dry cheeks but an oily nose and forehead, your skin belongs to the combination skin type. This is characterized by both dry and oily areas of skin on the face. When cleansing, it is important that the skin in the different areas is cleansed individually. This makes cleansing more difficult than with other skin types. However, you should generally use a pH-neutral cleansing lotion that provides your skin with sufficient moisture without making it excessively oily. You should also use scrubs and masks on oily areas such as the nose and forehead to counteract excessive sebum production. However, you must always ensure that you avoid dry areas of skin.

If your skin is extremely sensitive and reacts quickly to external influences with redness, you should be particularly careful when cleansing. Care products should only contain mild ingredients. Stay away from products with alcohol. This will only irritate your skin and you should also exfoliate your skin very rarely. Especially when drying your face, make sure that you do not rub your skin with a towel, but gently pat it dry.
