Skin care in winter: What matters now

The cold season - skincare in winter can be a real challenge. As nice as it is to warm up by the crackling fire after a walk through icy snowy landscapes: For our skin, extreme temperature changes are a strain. When it is very cold, not only do the blood vessels constrict and the skin's blood supply is poorer, but sebum production also stops. Dry, heated air indoors ensures that the water supply in our outermost skin layer decreases considerably and the skin loses a large part of its natural protective function.

Proper skin care in winter starts with cleansing

Fresh shower gels are more suitable in the summer months - moisturizing shower lotions and oils with urea or jojoba are good for the skin now. To prevent the skin from drying out, showers should not be too long or too hot and a bath should not last longer than 15 minutes. Very important: apply cream afterwards! Products containing active ingredients such as urea, lactic acid, panthenol, vitamin E or betulin are particularly moisturizing for the skin. Fats in emulsions with shea butter, olive oil or linolenic acid are also part of a balanced skin care routine in winter - they protect the skin's hydrolipidic film.

Facial care in winter - the main thing is moisture

It's a real winter phenomenon: dry and tight facial skin affects a lot of people now. Instead of degreasing cleansing products, a gentle cleansing milk should be used in the winter months, while a light oil-in-water care product is suitable for daytime use. Beware of exfoliants: do not use them before going out into the cold. Cold creams are a skin care product that can support the regeneration of dry skin in winter. They consist mainly of beeswax, reduce feelings of tightness and quickly make redness disappear.
