Women's glasses: finding the right shape

There are few accessories that influence your appearance as much as glasses - after all, your glasses are one of the first things people notice when they look at your face. Fortunately, the selection of frames for women is huge, so there is guaranteed to be a suitable model for every style. Here you can find out which frame best suits your personality type and face shape.

Consider your personal style

Many people have at least a rough idea of the impression they want to convey with their style and appearance. This aspect should of course also be taken into account when choosing glasses. After all, unlike your outfit, you wear your glasses every day. So think about which facet of your personality you want to emphasize with your glasses: Do you prefer a classic, classy look or do you prefer to be extravagant? Do you value sporty lines, or do you perhaps prefer a feminine and romantic look? A suitable frame can help to influence how you are perceived as a person at first glance.

How eye-catching should it be? Color types and contrasts A separate article could easily be written on the subject of "color types". However, as glasses do not usually take up too much space, it is important to pay particular attention to contrast. Or rather, the question of whether you want to create contrasts with your glasses. As a general rule, the higher the contrast, the more eye-catching the glasses.

If you want the frame to blend in as unobtrusively as possible with your overall appearance, you should choose a frame color that matches your skin and hair tone as closely as possible and choose a frame in a similar shade. In this case, darker types would be well advised to choose warm copper and brown tones, while people with blonde hair and/or a paler complexion are often well advised to choose light gold tones.

Which glasses suit which face shape?

Whether the face appears oval, angular, long or round depends primarily on the height and width of the cheekbones, the shape of the cheeks and the overall length of the face (i.e. the distance between the chin and the hairline). However, the shape of the glasses can also have a significant influence on the shape of your face:

Angular faces

Faces with an evenly wide chin, cheeks and forehead usually have a rather angular shape and are therefore often perceived as striking or even severe. Square glasses models can reinforce this impression, while glasses with circular or oval lenses round off the face and give it a slightly softer look.

Round faces

The opposite is true for round faces. These are usually about the same height and width; the soft impression is often enhanced by a rounded chin. Round glasses emphasize this face shape, small frames can make the face appear even wider. Angular glasses, on the other hand, contour the face; larger frames can visually elongate it.

Heart-shaped faces

Heart-shaped faces get their characteristic shape from a broad forehead, pronounced cheekbones and a rather pointed chin. Bulky frames and very bright colors can accentuate the broad forehead. While frames with oval or round lenses tend to balance the face and conceal a wider forehead, square glasses can give the face more contour.

Oval faces

An oval face shape is characterized by a narrow chin and forehead and prominent cheekbones. These faces often appear particularly balanced and can therefore easily wear all shapes of glasses. Frames with a cat-eye shape in particular can visually "lift" the entire face and emphasize the eye area.
