The best thing to do on these "days" is to curl up in bed or on the sofa with a hot water bottle and not see or hear anything. But that's exactly the wrong thing to do. This is what you should do instead:
Move a lot
Exercise relaxes the cramped muscles around the uterus and improves blood circulation. This relieves pain. Cycling and walking are good.
Do not leave tampons in overnight
In rare cases, this can cause a toxic shock. The vaginal mucous membrane often dries out due to the tampon. Ideally, it should be changed every four hours, but a pad is better at night.
Different sizes
Most people use the "normal" size. At the beginning of your period you should use a particularly absorbent tampon, towards the end a mini tampon is sufficient. This avoids an unpleasant feeling of dryness.
Don't forget to wash your hands
You should always do this before changing your tampon, otherwise germs and bacteria can get from your hands into the vagina and uterus.
Better not to take ASA for the pain
The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is good, but thins the blood. This increases menstrual bleeding. Ibuprofen or paracetamol are better for relieving cramps.
