Sugar substitutes: these substances sweeten much more healthily

Only half the amount of household sugar that we consume daily is recommended. The good news is that there are much healthier and less calorie-rich sugar substitutes. The disadvantage: they are more expensive.

Thick juices
Thick juice from agave or pears has a high sweetening power and contains valuable minerals. Be careful with fructose intolerance, the fructose content is high. 100 ml juice corresponds to about 125 - 150 g household sugar (250 ml approx. 2.50 euros).

Birch sugar
... is xylitol, which is extracted from wood. This sugar substitute is low in calories, tooth-friendly and can replace household sugar 1:1. (1 kg approx. 10 euros).

Whole cane sugar
It doesn't score highly in terms of calories, as it is on a par with the white refined version. But it still contains vitamins and minerals (500 g approx. 2.70 euros).

Erythritol
Erythritol is a sweet-tasting compound and chemically belongs to the sugar alcohols. The sugar substitute has 0 calories and no negative impact on the metabolism (400 g approx. 5 euros).

Coconut blossoms
Sugar from coconut blossoms is very rich and gently raises blood sugar levels (250 g approx. 5 euros).

Stevia
The plant powder tastes like licorice - you have to like it. It has 0 calories and is 300 times sweeter than sugar (100 g approx. 7.50 euros).
