Restrict: convenience foods
Firstly, the motto "once insulin, always insulin" no longer necessarily applies, as you can successfully combat this with exercise, medication and, above all, a change in diet. Secondly, you don't need to starve. "It is still possible to enjoy a healthy diet," explains diabetes expert Dr. Hari Sven Krishnan. "It's a small challenge, but one that benefits the whole body."
Add fiber-rich oats to your diet
Of course there are a number of foods that you should avoid from now on, e.g. fast food and ready meals. It is best to cook yourself. Mediterranean cuisine with rapeseed and linseed oil, sea fish, low-sugar fruit and vegetables is super healthy. Insulin sensitivity can be improved by the relatively high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids. Also focus on dietary fiber: it prevents blood sugar levels from spiking after eating.
Oatmeal is very effective in reducing the need for insulin. The porridge can be spiced up with berries, apples, cinnamon and vanilla pulp. It also warms the soul - it's not for nothing that porridge is the English people's favorite breakfast. Oat and quark pancakes are really delicious - the recipe is below. In the next six issues of FUNK UHR you will find more delicious recipes especially for diabetics. Gentle help also comes from nature: a clinical study has shown that extracts from the Indian jambul tree help to lower blood sugar levels (e.g. in Glycowohl, pharmacy).
