7 good reasons for effective beauty sleep

Around 35% of 40 to 49-year-olds consider a day on which they have not overslept in the morning to be a happy day, according to a representative survey conducted by "Idee für mich" in collaboration with Emnid. The body and mind never recover better than overnight. With a few simple rules and beauty tricks, you can turn every snooze into an effective beauty sleep!

Seven to eight hours of sleep keep us healthy, alert and beautiful

Waking up in a good mood and feeling refreshed with silky hair and rosy skin. We all dream of this. With diligent skincare helpers and the right preparation, we can do it in our sleep.

Stay cool for a dewy look in the morning

If the temperature in the bedroom rises above 20 degrees, more fluid accumulates in our tissue overnight: The face quickly looks tired and puffy. Therefore, always air the room for a few minutes before going to bed. The fresh breeze cools the room and makes it easier to fall asleep. However, the room temperature should not fall below 16 degrees. If you are cold in bed, you will sleep more restlessly and less soundly.

Everything in its own time: the ideal timing for beauty

During the night, our skin recovers from the stresses and strains of the day. It follows a strict schedule: In the early evening, it starts to boost its cell metabolism. You should therefore remove your make-up as early as possible. This allows the pores to get more oxygen. Between 9 p.m. and midnight, damage to the cells caused by too much sunlight is repaired. In order not to miss this phase, you should go to bed by 11 pm at the latest. If you sleep until at least 5 a.m., you can look forward to a rested complexion.

Sleep properly for firm skin and soft hair

Smooth silk bed linen makes the face look less wrinkled in the morning. The hair fibers are also not roughened and are visibly shinier. Sleeping on your back delays wrinkles on the neck. Always lie with your head slightly elevated. This prevents puffy eyes.

Nourishing masks support the skin at night

Overnight masks with a rich cream texture lie on the skin like a film and plump it up with smoothing plant oils while you sleep. Simply massage in the residue in the morning.

Intensive treatment for a healthy shiny mane

A night treatment strengthens the hair with cereal proteins and moisturizes dry ends with panthenol. Apply to damp hair, wrap a towel around it and go to sleep. Rinse out with shampoo.

Lights out! Only darkness lets us switch off thoroughly

How rested we look in the morning depends above all on the melanin content in our body. The sleep hormone regulates the fixed day and night rhythm. The tricky thing is that melanin can only be produced in complete darkness. The glaring cell phone display, translucent street lighting or a running television slow down its production in the evening. The body is tricked into thinking it is still broad daylight; it does not switch to rest mode. When we wake up, we feel and usually look exhausted: Our complexion looks sickly and pale, dark circles and fine wrinkles appear. Darkening curtains or sleeping glasses are a must. Cell phones and distracting light sources have no place in the bedroom.

Too little sleep? That has consequences ...

If you regularly sleep for less than seven hours, you look unkempt more quickly
Pimples and blemishes often develop if we don't rest long enough at night.

The hereditary tendency to puffy eyes and dark shadows is exacerbated by a lack of sleep.

If you are tired, you are more likely to eat greasy food and have a greater appetite. This promotes orange peel skin and
unwanted extra pounds.

If the recovery phase is regularly too short, the body ages much more quickly than usual: wrinkles appear early and the skin immediately becomes drier and thinner.

Insufficient regeneration weakens our immune system and makes us more susceptible to viral infections and illnesses. Unpleasant herpes blisters appear more frequently.

The hair is also affected: if the roots cannot repair themselves, the mane looks dull and limp. In extreme cases, there is even a risk of increased hair loss.
