Relaxing in winter - bathtub bliss makes us happy

A relaxing bath works wonders for body and mind. With the right products and tips, your bathroom at home will become a little wellness oasis!

On cold, wet winter days, there's nothing we want more than to take a leisurely dip. It has even been scientifically proven that bathing is not only pleasant but also healthy: Warm water ensures that muscles and breathing relax and more blood is pumped to the heart. This is a great way to relax and recharge your batteries.

Tailor care products to the occasion

Not all baths are the same. Depending on the effect you want to achieve, choose the right active ingredients (see below). Tip: If you have dry skin, you should choose bath ingredients with moisturizing creams or oils. Salts and bubble baths are more suitable for normal skin.

Beauty rituals: with masks and treatments

Use the time in the water for moisturizing face masks and hair treatments. The pores on the scalp and body are wide open due to the heat, so that active ingredients can be optimally absorbed. Once absorbed, rinse off well with bath water and shower off thoroughly.

Sea salt has a detoxifying effect

Start the new year with a quick detoxification treatment: bath additives with sea salt dissolve old waste products from our skin and give it a rosy glow thanks to its minerals. Tip: Rub a little bath salt into your arms and legs in the water. This stimulates blood circulation and removes dead skin cells.

Eucalyptus against colds

Clear your airways with this classic essential oil. Cold noses can breathe deeply again with the good eucalyptus oil: add a few drops to the bath water and breathe deeply. This is good for the mucous membranes and bronchial tubes.

Arnica for sore muscles

Revive tired bones and aching joints. A warm bath helps to soothe aching limbs and joints. Arnica flowers enhance this effect and also have a pain-relieving effect and accelerate the healing of bruises.

Orange lifts the mood

Start the day refreshed, wide awake and exuberant. The tangy scent of oranges and other citrus fruits such as mandarins, limes or lemons quickly wakes you up and puts you in a good mood. It also makes us feel sparkling clean.

Chocolate to enjoy

Let your mind wander. Warm chocolate not only tastes divine, but also triggers feelings of well-being and even happiness. A bath in dark cocoa also curbs your appetite for sweets and keeps you slim in the long term.

Lavender to relax

Switch off more quickly before going to bed. Lavender flowers contain oils that have a calming and therefore sleep-promoting effect. A quarter of an hour in a lavender bath can "knock you out". But a scented pillow in bed or a skin lotion have a similar effect on the body and mind.

Camomile soothes the complexion

Soothe irritated problem skin with bath creams. Sensitive skin that struggles with dryness and redness feels best with mild chamomile-based cream baths. They reduce itching and have a disinfectant effect.

Honey for soft skin

Treat yourself to a completely natural luxury treatment. Cleopatra already pampered herself with this care star among bath additives. No wonder: honey is full of vitamins and trace elements that help wrinkles to form more slowly and small injuries to heal more quickly. If you mix honey with 1 liter of whole milk in the bath water, its moisturizing effect can unfold even better. The skin becomes velvety soft and silky smooth.

Bath knowledge

Three small but important tips to make your bath a feel-good experience!

Temperature: Baths up to 35 degrees are refreshing and energizing. To relax, the water should ideally be slightly warmer at around 37 degrees. People who suffer from circulatory problems should bathe in cooler water.
Duration: As nice as it is - don't stay in the water for longer than 20 minutes. Otherwise the skin will dry out too much and become brittle.
Aftercare: Afterwards, your skin will appreciate a full-body massage with a rich moisturizing cream or oil. Allow 30 minutes for this. This turns bathing into a relaxing experience.
