Delete certain letters from a text
Select a letter and search a newspaper page for it. This promotes concentration enormously. You can stop the time as you cross out the letters and compare the times after the next pass.
Spell long words forwards and backwards
It's simple and can be done anywhere, for example while waiting for the bus or at the checkout: think of a long word and spell it as quickly as possible. To increase the level of difficulty, spell the word backwards.
Say words out loud and count the letters
This memory exercise is best done with a partner. The partner says a long word. The other partner then counts the letters of this word. If you are given a certain amount of time, full concentration is required.
Listen very carefully and pay attention to certain words
Listen carefully to a conversation, it can also be a TV program. Count certain words in the dialog, for example all "or" and "if". You can increase the training effect by paying attention to more than one word.
Storytelling for creativity
This exercise is suitable for two people. The partner names three to five words, for example "snow", "spring", "midnight", "beauty", "car". The other partner has to make up a short story from these words - in exactly the same order as the words are said. Inventing stories increases the brain's creative potential and fluency.
