Hasselback Potatoes: fan potatoes with cheese

Baked potatoes are old hat. The new food trend is called "Hasselbackspotatis" and, for once, doesn't come from the USA. The delicacy is fan-shaped potatoes filled with cheese and baked in the oven until crispy. We reveal the recipe here.

Little effort, great effect: Hasselback potatoes are very easy to prepare and taste simply delicious.

Where does the fan potato come from?

The fan potato with cheese has its origins in Stockholm, where it was first served in the "Hasselbacken" restaurant. However, the "hasselback potato" is now also very popular in the USA.

Preparing hasselback potatoes

During preparation, the tubers are cut deep into thin slices so that they still hang together at the bottom and can be opened like a fan. After brushing them with a little oil to make them nice and crispy, they can be filled as desired. Whether with spinach and cheese, bacon, spring onions and/or feta - there are no limits to your imagination.

Today we serve our fan potatoes with Parmesan cheese and butter. Alternate between a small slice of Parmesan cheese and a knob of butter in the wedges. Drizzle with a little olive oil and bake in the oven at 200°C for approx. 50 minutes. Pour the cream over the potatoes and sprinkle with cheese. Bake for a further 10 minutes. Garnish with herbs as desired.
