The first impression counts
Experts know that first impressions are made within four seconds. This is particularly important for job interviews: if you wear an appropriate outfit, approach your future boss in a friendly and open manner and are punctual, you have already made a major contribution to your success.
However, a complete application portfolio with the right photo is essential for an interview to take place. After all, first impressions are crucial here too: coffee stains on the documents, a messy CV or a vacation snapshot as an application photo are clear exclusion criteria. So take enough time for your application and invest some money - it will be worth it.
How to get the new job: the perfect application
Completeness, order and adherence to form: These are the main points that recruiters pay attention to these days.
The cover letter - the right form
The document must be created on a computer - handwritten cover letters don't stand a chance. The font is also important: either Arial (font size: 11) or Times New Roman (font size: 12). It should be written with line spacing 1 (single-spaced). The margins should be 25 mm on the left and 20 mm on the right.
What must be included in the cover letter?
Answer the following questions: Why are you applying for this job? Why this company? Why are you the right person for this job? Make reference to the requirements stated in the job advertisement.
The CV - this is how it should look:
A clear structure is the most important thing here. Start at the top left with your personal details, including your e-mail address. Place your photo at the top right. Then start with your current job and continue the list backwards to your education. There should also be a separate section for "Special skills". Important: The CV must be dated and signed.
The portfolio:
If you are applying by post, you should choose a simple application folder that contains a cover sheet with the name of the company, the full job title for the position and your personal details. This should also be included in the online application. When arranging the documents, be sure to follow the following order: cover letter, cover sheet, CV, references, training certificate, attachments (such as work samples).
The right photo:
Has the applicant made an effort? How competent is he or she? The picture provides the first answers.
