A classic - breadcrumbs from stale bread or rolls!

Throw it in the garbage can - just because the bread is no longer crisp? That's pure waste, and it even costs money. As you'll soon see, you can still make a lot out of old bread and rolls. But one thing is clear: if bread is moldy, then it belongs in the organic waste garbage can!

Using up stale bread: 3 tips on what else you can do with it

1. breadcrumbs - the classic

To prepare meatballs, line cake tins or for a breading - breadcrumbs are part of the standard kitchen equipment alongside flour, salt and sugar. You can buy them ready-made or make them yourself. To do this, put hard bread and/or bread rolls in a food processor or grind them manually with a grater. The great thing is that you can always create your own mix and the crumbs taste better!

2. make your own bread potato chips

Why spend money on industrially produced bread potato chips when you can easily make them yourself? Simply cut stale bread or bread rolls into thin slices, lay them out on a baking tray and brush them with oil. Then simply sprinkle with a little sea salt and herbs. Bake in the oven at approx. 180 degrees (160 degrees fan) for approx. 10 to 15 minutes until crispy. Turn the slices over from time to time. Tip: Make two trays at once!

3. animal food: donate old bread

Instead of feeding stale bread to sparrows, ducks or pigeons, which is often not allowed, you can also donate stale bread. Examples of recipients are animal farms, animal parks or animal shelters. The bread is then given to them completely dry - and the facilities are happy about the nice animal food donation.
