Sometimes a small change is enough to achieve a big goal. This is one of them: treat yourself to a hot breakfast from now on. This is how cultures around the world do it, and with good reason. A hot breakfast fills you up particularly well and for a long time, provides you with energy and prevents hunger pangs.

Hot breakfast is a tradition

Traditional and tried and tested: Billions of people can't be wrong. In many countries, a warm breakfast is a must in the morning. In Russia, for example, kasha, a porridge made from buckwheat or oatmeal, is cooked for breakfast, but there can also be omelettes. In Scotland, of course, porridge is served. In Thailand and Vietnam there are warm soups, in China rice dishes and vegetables and in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) a warm breakfast is even part of a holistically healthy life. Why is that?

From TCM: Porridge for breakfast, i.e. cooked cereal porridge, promotes digestion, has a positive effect on the intestines and strengthens the entire immune system. According to TCM, a warm breakfast promotes Qi because the nutrients are easier to utilize. You won't feel full or hungry at lunchtime; instead, a healthy breakfast with oatmeal makes you feel good and helps you concentrate.

Lose weight with a hot breakfast

The slimming effect: while cold food slows down the metabolism, warm food boosts the burning of energy. A comparison has also shown that a warm breakfast, especially cooked cereal porridge, makes you feel fuller for longer and gradually prevents hunger pangs. Two reasons why a hot breakfast makes you slim in the long term. Even without a diet!

Your new morning ritual

Good ingredients are the basis for greater well-being throughout the day and a healthy, slim life.

The perfect breakfast: TCM recommends cereal porridge, for example made from oat flakes, quinoa, barley, buckwheat or spelt, which can be cooked to your taste with water and milk, soy or almond drinks and spices in just a few minutes. Porridge for breakfast provides complex carbohydrates and replenishes your energy stores. Fresh fruit rounds off the slimming meal. TCM experts recommend breakfast grouches who are not hungry in the morning to take a look at their eating habits: they often eat too late in the evening and eat too much fat. Don't eat anything after 7 pm. And: you can heat up porridge in the microwave at work and simply have breakfast later.

Tip: Ginger is the medicinal plant of the year 2018. In addition to its many positive effects on health, the yellow root tuber boosts the metabolism and blood circulation, making it a natural fat burner. Freshly grated ginger stimulates gastric juice production and thus speeds up digestion. Great for losing weight! Take advantage of its effect and grate a small amount into your breakfast in the morning. Either add ginger to your porridge right at the beginning, which will give it more flavor and spice, or at the end, when its spiciness comes to the fore. Very important: always grate fresh, otherwise the essential oils will evaporate. When buying fresh roots, you can recognize them by their firm, smooth skin.
