Fat-saving tricks when cooking
1. crispy casseroles: Your casserole will be significantly lower in calories if you replace half of the cheese with breadcrumbs. This not only saves a lot of fat, but also gives you a delicious crispy crust.
2. low-fat breading: Fat-saving trick for schnitzel. Sprinkle the meat with lemon instead of rolling it in egg. Then coat loosely in breadcrumbs. Tap off any excess breadcrumbs.
3. fried eggs made easy: You don't need any fat to fry fried eggs. Simply add two tablespoons of mineral water to the hot pan. Then crack the egg on top. You will notice: it will be just as crispy as in oil. Only with fewer calories.
4. spraying instead of pouring: Spray your pan thinly with an oil spray instead of pouring in oil. This also coats the whole pan, but you save around 115 calories or 12 g of fat per portion. Alternatively, you can also add a few drops of oil to the pan and spread over a large area with a brush.
5. hot pan: Make sure you use the right temperature when frying. If you place the meat in a hot pan, the pores will close immediately and it will absorb less fat. To check the temperature, hold a dry wooden spoon in the pan. If small bubbles form, the fat is hot enough.
6 Soups & sauces: You don't necessarily need a lot of cream to make wonderfully creamy soups and sauces. Simply grate raw potatoes very finely and mix in. The starch it contains binds wonderfully. For a creamier taste, you can add a little milk. This saves around two thirds of the fat without sacrificing flavor.
7. don't measure by eye: don't use oil and butter for salad dressings or bread by feel - it's easy to use too much. As a fat-saving trick, always measure with a tablespoon or teaspoon.

8. light flakes: Nuts and almonds contain around 60g of fat per 100g - this hits the calorie balance. This fat-saving trick makes the nut cake lighter and still tastes aromatic: replace a third of the ground nuts with rolled oats (7 g fat per 100 g). Roast the flakes in a pan without fat for a tempting aroma.
9. fruit instead of fat: In most recipes, you can replace fat with the same amount of prune puree. For 275 g puree, puree 225 g prunes with 90 ml water in a blender. For sponge cakes, half the fat can easily be replaced with apple sauce.
10. light muffins: These little cakes are often real calorie bombs. But here, too, a fat-saving trick can help: simply replace the specified amount of butter with 1.2 times the amount of yogurt. For example, for a recipe with 250 g butter, use only 125 g butter and 150 g yoghurt.
11. exotic coconut note: For cake batters that are mixed with cream, try using coconut milk. It has much less fat (and a healthier, plant-based one at that), and the cake will still be very light and delicious.
12. the icing: Decorate your cake with a light sugar icing instead of chocolate icing. This is just as tasty and saves around 56 g of fat per cake.
Fat-saving tricks for on the go
13. swapping side dishes: Replace greasy side dishes such as chips or fried potatoes with lighter options, e.g. a tasty baked potato with quark (not with sour cream, which has a lot of fat again). This fat-saving trick doesn't even cost extra in most restaurants.
14. no croutons: Even if they are delicious: Get rid of them! They are fried soaked in fat - calories that you can save. Instead, ask if you can have sunflower seeds sprinkled over your salad.
15. nice kebab: A kebab is not a bad choice to satisfy a quick hunger in between meals. Have your flatbread filled with lots of vegetables and salad, a little sauce and a little meat.
16. low-fat snack: There is also a fat-saving trick at the snack bar: instead of meat loaf, currywurst and chips, simply go for a crispy roast chicken. But it's best not to eat the skin. Unfortunately, that's where most of the fat is.
17. veggie trap: meatless does not always mean low-fat. Vegetarian dishes can also contain a lot of fat. The biggest calorie bombs are gratinated dishes with lots of cheese and cream sauces. They often weigh considerably more on the scales than a steak or a pot roast.
18. fast food: If you do want fast food, the cheeseburger is a surprisingly good choice. At around 300 kcal, it is a lightweight among all fast food dishes and is only beaten by the hamburger - because of the slice of cheese. You should avoid burgers with fatty mayo-based sauces and fried foods
Fat-saving tricks for snacks
19. coffee cookies: Buy cookies without nuts and chocolate. Choose ones with oat flakes or raisins instead. Also light and tasty: Russian bread, sponge cookies or ladyfingers.
20. nibble lighter: If you don't want to give up snacking in front of the TV in the evening, you can reach into the popcorn bowl. Prepared without fat and sugar, 50 g only have around 170 kcal. Lightly salted, it's a good alternative to potato chips and a real fat-saving trick.
21. pudding & co.: Simply prepare semolina porridge, rice pudding or pudding with low-fat milk. This makes them a wonderfully light dessert.
22. fruit yoghurt: Instead of cream yoghurt from the chiller cabinet, enjoy low-fat yoghurt (1.5%) with fresh fruit.
22. tomato mozzarella: What tastes light is by no means light. On the contrary, mozzarella contains up to 20 g of fat per 100 g. It's better to switch to light mozzarella. It's better for your figure, but still tastes delicious.
24 Slimming dessert: This fat-saving trick is ideal for those with a sweet tooth who want a dessert after dinner. Instead of a chocolate pudding, simply eat a jelly. It contains no fat.
25. chocolate cravings: Sometimes it just has to be chocolate. But then it's better to choose varieties with a cocoa content of at least 70 percent. They satisfy your chocolate craving much faster, so you eat less. They also contain much less fat. Tip: Put the chocolate in the freezer. Then it melts more slowly in your mouth.
