6 underwear mistakes we shouldn't make

As is so often the case, looking pretty isn't everything. Because the wrong underwear can even damage our health.

1. the bra is too small

A study by the Hohenstein Research Institute found that a third of women wear a bra that is too small. This looks unattractive and can even lead to pain. The straps cut in and leave notches in the skin, the breast is squeezed and hurts. Over the course of a lifetime, the size changes again and again - it is always best to go to a specialist store and have your size measured.

2. the wrong material

Synthetic lace briefs may look sexy, but this material is not so good for the skin because it is not permeable to air. Moisture builds up, creating a perfect breeding ground for fungal diseases and infections. Underwear made of breathable cotton is better. If only the gusset of the briefs is made of cotton, then that's fine too.

3. thongs

The narrow fabric band of the thong transports bacteria from the anus to the vagina. There they can quickly trigger a bladder infection or a fungal infection.

4. keep your bra on at night

This compresses the lymph nodes and ducts, which means that harmful substances cannot be filtered and excreted properly. In addition, the skin does not breathe properly. And: The bra can slip and cut at night, causing unpleasant pressure points.

5 Incorrect care

Underwear should always be washed at a temperature of at least 60 degrees to kill all bacteria and other pathogens. If it itches, the wrong detergent may also be the cause: Some contain odorous substances that irritate sensitive skin. It is better to use fragrance-free, hypoallergenic detergents.

6. leave sweaty clothes on

Sweat creates the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. It is best to change immediately after sport, but at least once a day.
