French rolls
For 10 pieces:
Dissolve 1 cube of yeast in 200 ml lukewarm milk. Knead with 175 g sugar, 500 g flour, 125 g margarine. Leave to rise for 60 minutes. Roll out the dough to approx. 50x35 cm. Brush with 50 g soft fat, mix 75 g sugar and 2 tbsp cinnamon, sprinkle on top. Roll up the dough tightly from the long side.
Cut into 4 cm wide slices. Place on trays, make a notch in the middle. Brush with egg yolk. Bake for approx. 12 mins. at 200 degrees (electric).
Oliebollen
For 8 people:
Mix 4 eggs with 125 g sugar, 1 tbsp rum (optional) and 200 g sour cream. Mix 500 g flour with 2 tsp baking powder, add little by little and mix everything into a viscous batter.
Heat the frying fat to 180 degrees. Using 2 tablespoons, drop the batter into the hot fat in batches and bake for 2-3 minutes. Lift out, place on kitchen paper, dust with powdered sugar.
Cinnamon buns
For 12 pieces:
Mix 350 g flour, 1 sachet yeast, 30 g sugar and 1 sachet vanilla sugar. Melt 60 g margarine (e.g. Becel Gold) in a pan, add 125 ml milk and a pinch of salt and heat until lukewarm. Mix with the flour mixture to form a smooth dough. Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
Roll out the dough into a square 0.5-1 cm thick. Spread with 60 g margarine. Mix 40 g brown sugar and 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon and sprinkle on top. Roll up the dough and cut into slices approx. 2 cm thick. Place on the baking tray, cover and leave to rise for a further 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 200 °C (fan oven: 180 °C). Brush the cinnamon buns with water and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Extra tip
Sweet glaze for cinnamon buns: Mix 100 g powdered sugar with 1-2 tbsp lemon juice until smooth and drizzle over the buns.
