However, your metabolism also depends on your genetic predisposition. A slightly faster or slower metabolism can therefore be genetically determined. However, some people also suffer from a metabolic disorder. In this case, it is often difficult to stimulate the metabolism.

Stimulate the metabolism through your diet

If the metabolism works too slowly, this can lead to weight gain, among other things. There are a variety of ways to stimulate our metabolism. The most important thing here is the right diet. You should mainly drink water. This is not only healthy for your metabolism, but also for your entire body. Sweetened drinks, on the other hand, increase your fluid requirement. Unsweetened (or only slightly sweetened) teas and diluted fruit juices are also healthy and can also make it easier for you to stay away from soft drinks. Ginger tea or ginger in general has a particularly positive effect on the metabolism.

In addition to drinks, you should of course also pay attention to the right foods and your eating habits. Preferably eat small portions and, if possible, avoid meals that are too heavy. However, you should not eat too little, otherwise your body may switch to starvation mode and this will slow down your metabolism again. Also choose foods that are rich in fiber. Fruit and vegetables stimulate the metabolism and at the same time provide your body with everything it needs to function. Vitamin C is also very important for the metabolism. You should also eat as "colorful" as possible. This means that different types of fruit and vegetables help to stimulate the metabolism. On the other hand, you should avoid fatty foods as much as possible. A lot of sugar should also be avoided in your diet. Hot spices such as chili, on the other hand, also stimulate the metabolism. Protein also consumes a lot of energy during digestion and stimulates the metabolism.

Stimulate the metabolism through a healthy lifestyle

A small change in your habits often helps to stimulate your metabolism. A healthy lifestyle has never done anyone any harm. Sport, for example, also stimulates the metabolism. This does not mean that you have to do competitive sport. However, you should exercise for at least 30 minutes a day with a slightly elevated heart rate. A walk is enough for this. Too little exercise inhibits digestion and slows down your metabolism. Too much stress is also bad for you and your metabolism. Although stress can stimulate your pulse, it has a negative effect on your metabolism as a whole. Exercise can also help to reduce stress, which is all the more reason to be active every day.

Carrier metabolism due to illness

If, despite a change in diet and more exercise, you still don't feel any success, there may be other causes. If your metabolism is very sluggish, you should have it checked to see whether it is being inhibited by an illness. In this case, medical care may be necessary. Potential illnesses may include the following:

  • Thyroid diseases
  • osteoporosis
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Cushing's syndrome

The treatment of these diseases should be a top priority, especially as this also stimulates the metabolism and can reduce the inhibition caused by the disease. In addition, these diseases can also have other consequences and should therefore be treated.
